課程概述

什麼才構成音樂的美?是它的結構?是旋律、和聲、節奏?還是它所表達的感覺、情緒?它所描繪的景物、情節?美的音樂等於「好聽」的音樂嗎?什麼是「好聽」? 音樂的美和它對人實際發生的作用有關連嗎?

不同文化中,音樂的美是否完全不同?如何不同?音樂的美有客觀標準嗎?如果有,為何沒有人能夠明確指出這些標準而受到大家一致認同?如果沒有,為何音樂美學家、理論家、評論家對於樂曲的優缺點(如coherence, balance等等)述說得頭頭是道,彷彿客觀的標準就在眼前?究竟音樂中有沒有可以讓眾人一致同意的「美」可言?對於音樂的美,又有哪些不同的看法?
 

課程目標
本課程的目的,即在探討何謂音樂的美。特別是漢文化與歐洲文化之間,對音樂的價值、音樂的美有何不同主張?其背後的理由為何?其看法如何落實於樂曲之中?在不同的審美觀與價值觀之下,對於樂曲的欣賞角度是否不同?

不同文化的樂曲所適宜的審美活動是否本質上完全不同?或者仍有部分層面相通?在這些不同,甚至相左的看法或本質中,我們該如何取捨,如何與之共存?

本課程將藉由各種審美觀的相關文獻之討論,以及對於實際樂曲的賞析探究,落實我們對不同的音樂審美觀的理解、評論與分析。
 
課程要求
平日口頭報告:每人一次,在上課時對於所指定的文獻作要點報告,並於報告前一週將要點整理交給授課教師修改,以便上課報告時,發給同學參考。
期末報告:對於所選的題目做(1)口頭報告,及(2)書面報告
